Holiday Home in Devon with River Exe Fishing

Gogwell House owns three miles of salmon and trout fishing on the east bank of the River Exe, between Colliepriest House and Blackbridge.

If you would like to fish, please let us know. We do not provide equipment, but we can show you where the best pools are. For coarse fishing there are various local options, including Bellbrook Fishery and Oak Tree Fishery.

Walking down to the river

One of the best walks from Gogwell goes down the back drive to the Exe Valley and on to Bickleigh village. It follows the east bank of the River Exe, much of it through rich oak and ash woodland, and in spring Backswood is carpeted with bluebells. This is stage five of the Exe Valley Way.

The Grand Western Canal is at the bottom of Newte's Hill, less than a mile from the house, and is lovely for walking, cycling and boating.
