Milestone Birthdays and Anniversaries in Devon

Gogwell House and Buzzards House each sleep 14, with room for several generations to celebrate a milestone birthday or anniversary under one roof.

Somewhere to Eat Together

At Gogwell the kitchen opens into the dining room, onto the veranda and out to the garden. It has an Aga, two extra ovens and hobs, two dishwashers and an American fridge. There are two sitting rooms with open fires, and a wood-burning stove in the dining room.

Buzzards is built around an oak-floored open-plan hub with a wood-burning stove, deep sofas and a large oak dining table. The kitchen is just off it, with two ovens, a large gas hob, a coffee machine, a large fridge freezer and an extra drinks fridge.

Cooks in the Area

There are lots of cooks in the area who will come to Gogwell and cook up delicious feasts. Many guests have enjoyed Sarah Watson's drop-off menu, which works well if you want to minimise cooking during your stay. Chefs who cook at Gogwell include Sarah Watson, Flora Bartlett, Le Frog and La Petite Bouchee.

Room for Every Generation

Gogwell has eight bedrooms, usually set up as five superking beds and two twin rooms. The dressing room holds two small beds for children and we also have a cot. The barn, 12 metres from the house, has a superking bedroom on the ground floor with an en-suite bathroom, ideal for guests who prefer a ground floor room, wheelchair users and anyone who would like to be away from the main group.

Outside, the veranda is covered in grape vine and is a favourite place for breakfasts, lunches, barbecues and cocktails. It opens onto a croquet lawn, and the old stables have been turned into a games room.

Many groups re-book as they leave.
