The location is beautiful, overlooking the River Exe and Bickleigh Bridge. It is a traditional carvery style pub. The Butterleigh Inn - Butterleigh - 01884 855433. The closest pub to Gogwell, a 2-mile / 45 min walk. It is a traditional Inn, serving English pub classics, with a great selection of local beers and ciders. It has log fires in the winter and a garden for the summer. Cadeleigh Arms - Cadeleigh - 01884 255238. A lovely little local pub in the village of Cadeleigh. The perfect place to settle into on a cold winter's afternoon in front of the roaring log fire.

There are lots of cooks in the area who will come to Gogwell and cook up delicious feasts, and many guests have really enjoyed Sarah Watson's drop off menu, which works perfectly if you want to minimise cooking during your stay. Chefs who come and cook at Gogwell include Sarah Watson, Flora Bartlett, Le Frog and La Petite Bouchee. Devon has great local produce - there is a market in Tiverton with a fish stall on Fridays. Veysey's butchers in Cullompton delivers to Gogwell on Wednesdays. Halberton Farm Shop is ten minutes from the house, it sells local produce, bread from Bawden's Bakery and has a Pick Your Own fruit.
